Interior Permanent Secretary has insisted that Mathira MP and deputy presidential hopeful Rigathi Gachagua once served as a D.O in Molo.
In an interview with a local station, Kibicho claimed that Gachagua is sick, that is why he can not recall his Molo responsibilities.
According to him, the deputy presidential hopeful is suffering from selective amnesia and that is why he keeps denying that he ever served in the area.
“He needs a doctor because of the lies coming out of him, he does not look like a normal person. It is on record Gachagua worked in Molo but cannot remember because he is sick,” the PS said.
Kibicho further revealed that Gachagua was fired from office and did not resign as he has been telling Kenyans.
“I am the PS Interior and I am telling you that Gachagua was sacked from Ministry of Interior for abstention. He never resigned. He was fired for desertion of duty and mismanagement of relief food, and I have evidence to support what I am saying,” Kibicho said in a separate radio interview.
The government official added that Gachagua was later posted as D.O to North Eastern but he refused to go to work.
Gachagua has been denying claims of ever serving as district officer in Molo during Daniel Arap Moi’s era as president especially in 1992 during Molo clashes where hundreds of people lost lives and thousands others got displaced.
It is alleged that the lawmaker did nothing to save people from his community who were victims of the clashes.
“I want to put it on record… My file number at the Office of the President is PF 611592. I served in Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Laikipia, Garissa, Turkana, Kakamega and in the Office of the President in Nairobi. I have never served in Nakuru, leave alone Molo,” Gachagua said in an interview previously.
