Ps Karanja Kibicho revealed that a total of 402 individuals were arrested yesterday for violating the various protocols set by the government as part of measures to combat the coronavirus disease.
Interior Ministry Principal Secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho described the arrested individuals as ‘idiots’ who fail to understand that the restrictions set in place are meant to save their own lives and families.
Dr. Kibicho reiterated Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s remarks that God is too busy to be looking after idiots.
“You heard Museveni recently saying God has the whole world to take care of, he is not just in Uganda looking after idiots who don’t want to follow instructions,” said Kibicho.
“So let us (Kenyans) also know that God has a lot of work to do. We have 402 idiots we arrested yesterday trying to challenge and tell the government ‘stop saving my life’ because that is the message they are communicating.”
The PS indicated that the curfew, which has since been extended by 21 more days, could be extended further if the spread of the Covid-19 disease in the country continues.
Kibicho urged Kenyans to adhere to the various protocols saying that the measures are meant to protect lives and not oppress anyone.
In Nairobi, 18 people were arrested at an apartment in Jamhuri estate, with police saying the said persons were found naked and in possession of a camera.
They were arrested following a tip off from one of the residents at the Hurliqueen Courts Metropolitan apartment.
The 18 individuals aged between 14 and 30 years are in police custody and are set to be arraigned.
They are also expected to be put under mandatory quarantine for 14 days at their own cost for violating the dusk-to-dawn curfew and directives banning social gatherings following the Covid-19 outbreak.
