Pro-Trump TV Fox News Told Not To Call Joe Biden “President-elect” As He Edges Closer To Election Victory

Date:

News has instructed its anchors and staffers to refrain from calling Joe Biden “President-elect” as the democratic challenger is edging closer to the election win.

In a memo that has since been leaked, Fox News instructed its staffers to stay away rom using the “President-elect” description, and instead say something like Biden has “enough electoral votes to win the presidency.”

The memo explained that the move not to refer Biden as “President-elect” was informed by Trump’s decision to challenge election results in court. Indirectly implying that the station would only call Biden “President-elect” if court legitimizes his win.

The station’s news coverage of the election has been strikingly deferential to Trump, who is known to watch Fox News for multiple hours a day.

Fox News and talk show segments have played up Trump’s lawsuits in various battleground states, airing unverified claims about mass voter fraud from the president’s allies.

Trump has filed a series of lawsuits in different battleground states where he is trailing his democratic challenger.

The incumbent hopes to go all the way to US Supreme Court to challenge Biden’s win. Numerous legal analysts however have dismissed the lawsuits and potential legal maneuverings as having little to no merit.

Apart from delegitimizing Biden’s win on Fox News and numerous lawsuits filed, Trump has also been using his Twitter account to fire up his base with unsubstantiated claims of vote fraud.

Biden is set to be declared winner the moment vote counting in Pennsylvania comes to an end. The democratic challenger is leading in the state which has 20 electoral votes, more than enough that he needs to cross the 270 electoral votes threshold he needs to be declared “President-elect”.
