President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta on Friday evening showed deputy president William Samoei Ruto his true political colors in Nairobi.
Just a day after William Ruto campaigned in Nairobi, president Uhuru made an impromptu visit at Mathare constituency.
Addressing wananchi after opening the Mama Margaret Kenyatta Children Hospital in Nairobi County’s Korogocho informal settlement today, the President emphasized that he will continue focusing on national unity and peace as the most important ingredients for the country’s progress.
The head of state also took a swipe at tangatanga politicians over their continuous efforts to malign and discredit the government’s efforts. Specifically, he reiterated that threats and insults will not discourage him from working to improve the lives of Kenyans.
“I will continue to stand firm in my resolution that national unity is the most important thing for the country’s development and progress. I believe that justice will prevail not threats and insults,” President Kenyatta said.
The President cited the newly opened hospital as an example of the developments that can be achieved if all leaders worked together for the country’s common good.
What however caught the eye of Kenyans was the kind of huge reception the head of state received despite Ruto and his Tangatanga politicians spreading lies that Uhuru had lost popularity across the country.
It was also key to notice that the crowds were just wearing their normal clothes and not branded Jubilee T-shirts which would imply that they were a rented crowd like in yesterday’s Nairobi rallies by Ruto where 90% of the attendees were in branded yellow UDA t-shirts.
