President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law six Bills which seek to shape the teething transition issues at the county government.
The President on Thursday signed the County Attorneys BIll of 2018 which created the office of the county attorney to be appointed by the governors.
The County Government will also have a county solicitor plus other numbers of county legal counsel the county attorney many consider necessary.
The Head of State also signed the Petition to County Assemblies (Procedure) Bill of 2020 providing the procedure of handling petitions.
Uhuru assented to the County Government (Amendment) No.2 Bill, 2017 which provides the procedure of ending or suspension of a county government.
The law provides 14 days timeline within which the President will now be required to communicate a decision such a petition after receiving a report of a commission formed to hear such a request.
The President will submit to the Speaker of the Senate within the said period a memorandum stating his satisfaction or otherwise to dissolve the county government.
At the event, the president also signed into law the County Government (Amendment) Bill of 2017, which outlines the qualifications of a person seeking to be appointed as a county secretary.
The law also requires the governors to nominate a candidate for deputy governor within 14 days of a vacancy in the office.
The Members of County Assemblies will also have a say in both appointment and removal of a deputy governor with the law requiring the governor-elect be sworn in as acting governor in the event a governor-elect dies or is unable to assume office.

The other Bill that was assented by the President is the Public Finance Management Bill 2020 which denies Parliament a leeway to create special expenses accounts.
The last Bill that was signed into law was the National Drought Management (Amendment) bill of 2019 which allows the establishment of the National Drought Emergency.
