It seems President Uhuru Kenyatta is here to stay and may not go silent on the political affairs of the country if his latest sentiments are anything to go by.
While speaking at the coastal region, the head of state made it clear that he will remain in active politics despite retiring next week after the general elections.
This move by president Uhuru is likely to anger the Kenya Kwanza team led by William Ruto who have been constantly reminding him to go home after the end of his term.
President Uhuru made those sentiments at Makupa in Mombasa during the launch of the Makupa Bridge that was built at a cost of 4.5 billion Kenya shillings. At the same time, the president commissioned the construction of Makupa railway line and the MGR line from Mombasa Central Station all the way to Standard Gauge Railway Terminus in Miritini.
On their side, Kenyans expressed mixed reactions with president Uhuru’s sentiments with some castigating him while others encouraging him to remain active. This is what different Kenyans said:
“Retire Peacefully Mr President and Leave Raila and Ruto to meet at the Ballot, follow the steps of the Late President Mwai Kibaki Who didn’t Campaigned for Anybody.”
“Please be inactive. Every time you say that, one person is losing a vote and another gaining.”
“We want Uhuru reduce doing business on us. We want to have money in pockets. It’s unfair for the president say that he is going to be in authority after retirement.”
“Retirement means go home and stop campaigning for BBI! You go home and enjoy it. We are going to be fine with Ruto!”
“Time is over!!you better believe it.kikuyu elders are waiting for you and they will be 👑 you every week whenever you feel highly.”
“Why don’t you be like your predecessors. They retired peaceful what makes you think we shall be missing you so want to be active in Kenyan matters.”
“So Mr able president is that why you want project to work you retain in power through back door?? Odinga is your advisor when odinga become president in 2042 you will be his advisor. Kindly pack & go home just like kibaki or president moi there will be no loopholes in wiliam samoei ruto government the fifth.”
“Uhuru Kenyatta, our God chosen and anointed president. May God bless you our out going president Kenyatta. Thank you for your leadership, we will forever miss you. We wish you well sir.”
