President William Ruto has revealed that an iron ore factory will be set up in Taita Taveta county as from August 2024.
According to the head of state, a foreign investor is willing to invest Kshs10 billion into the project.
President Ruto noted that the project will offer 2000 Taita Taveta youths permanent jobs.
“I will come next month to launch the constriction of iron ore factory. We amended our laws last year to restrict importation of iron ballets, currently we have 16 companies in the country doing that work which is employing our Kenyan youths and building wealth one of the companies will be coming to operate here in Taita Taveta.
“We have been told that Taita Taveta doesn’t have good iron ore but all that was gossip. I will come here next month. We have an investor who will invest Ksh10 billion in the iron ore factory. We have agreed with the investor to employ 200 youths permanently,” he said.
