Renowned Ohangla Singer Maureen Achieng’ Otiu, popularly known as Lady Maureen is not dead, and the artiste who has passed on is Maurine Nyar Awendo, a dancer to Fred Jakadongo’s band.
Reliable sources tell sonkonews.com that Lady Maureen who has been ailing for some time now is currently undergoing treatment in one of health facilities in Tanzania.
“I am not dead. I was rushed here by my family members when my condition worsened. I am currently being transfused with blood. It has never been made clear what I am suffering from but my condition has worsened in recent days,” she said in an interview with a local blog.

Following her state of health and lack of finances, celebrities took to social media to stand by her and make donations aimed to offset the bills and cater to her basic needs while out of the hospital.
Singer Akothee took the role and created a paybill number where she called on other celebrities to follow suit.
Some of her famous hit songs include Safari ya Canaan, Raila Jakom and Wangni Biro.
In a span of two weeks, the Luo community has lost three renowned musicians, Abenny Jachiga Omondi Longlilo and now Lady Maureen.
