Popular Hollywood actor Bruce Willis’ acting career has come to an end after he was diagnosed with a health disorder.
According to his family, Bruce was diagnosed with aphasia recently, and the condition is impacting his cognitive abilities.
Aphasia is a condition that makes someone develop difficulty in their speech or language and usually affects the left side of the brain, just like a stroke.
The condition Hampers reading, listening, speaking, typing or writing.
The decision for him to step away from acting was reached after a lot of consideration. He quits after over 30 years in the entertainment industry.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” read the statement that was shared on his daughter Rumer Willis’ Instagram account.
The family added that they had to inform his fans about the unfortunate development because of what he means to them and vice versa.
“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through a strong family unit and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you as you do to him. As Bruce always says ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that,” the family said.
Bruce began his acting career in the 1970s but he came into the limelight after playing a role in the Moonlight, a TV drama series that was aired in 1985-1989. Since then, he has appeared in over hundred films such as Die hard, The Sixth Sense, Armageddon and Pulp Fiction.
Aside from acting, the 67-year old was also a musician. He released his first album in 1987 titled The Return of Bruno which was followed by two more in 1979 and 2001.
