Police in Bomet have impounded a vehicle that was transporting sick cows to a slaughter house.
According to the police, the cows were visibly emaciated.
“Officers drawn from county enforcement, manning toll point along Chebole-Bomet Highway stopped a motor vehicle Toyota Dmax and upon checking they found five cows. Upon cross check, they found the same to be emaciated and appeared to be unhealthy. They called Bomet police station and officers upon received of the said information proceeded to the said point impounded the motorvehicle and brought itto the police station,” said a police officer involved with the case
The law enforcers sought services of veterinary officers who confirmed that the cows were sick.
Police officers suspect the business is going on in secrecy and they have urged the public members to be wary of such malpractices.
“They should always get their meat and meat products from inspected butcheries,” he said.
