Police Arrest 20 Boda Boda Operators After Stoning Motorist in Kitengela

Police officers have arrested  20 boda boda operators captured in a viral video stoning a car in Kitengela.

DCI detectives were deployed in the area on Friday, January 19 following the incident where a motorist encountered wild boda boda operators.

In a video captured by an eyewitness, the rowdy mob was captured pelting stones at the car, causing severe damage to its windows and body.

This, as a traffic police officer was seen trying to control the riders and passersby to stop the act.

According to preliminary reports, the car was involved in a hit and run forcing the boda boda operators to chase it.

Some eyewitnesses indicated the driver is said to have caused the accident and sped off forcing the riders in the area to give it a chase before catching up with it near Enkare area.

However, according to a report filed at Kitengela Police Station, the 20 arrested persons will be charged with assault and property damage.

Their motorbikes were also confiscated during the operation.

“The above operation was conducted today 19th January 2024 by the OCS Kitengela, DCI Personnel and a team of officers, in response to an incident that occured within Kitengela township on 18/1/2024 reported vide OB 98/18/01/2024,” the police report read in part.

“Twenty persons have been arrested and twenty six motorbikes detained at the police station,” it added.
