‘Vioja Mahakamani’ actor Gibson Mbugua popularly known as ‘The Prosecutor’ funeral ceremony is underway at his farm in Mahundura, Nyandarua County.
Popular Kenyan comedy show Vioja Mahakamani has been airing on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation(KBC) for about 30 years.
The show had a hiatus in 2014, but it resumed in 2021 after the national broadcaster underwent a re-branding. The TV show frequently imitates court proceedings in a hilarious way.
In 2020, Gibson received a kidney failure diagnosis. Grace, his daughter, offered to donate a kidney in the hopes that it might help her father. Despite having multiple procedures to improve his health, he passed away on December 22, 2022.
Mr Mbugua’s daughter Grace Gathu said: “I always keep asking myself why God took him away from us even after we had sacrificed everything that we had as a family to restore his health. It is God who knows.”
Family, friends and fans have showed up to pay last respects to the legendary actor at his home. Kenyan celebrities and mainly those in the acting industry have gone to celebrate the life of their colleague.
