Slain Nairobi Hospital Finance Director, Eric Maigo, was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Keboba on a Friday filled with tears and positive eulogies.
Eric Maigo’s life had woven deep roots in the city where he grew up, and his family celebrated him as a son who had never failed in his duty to them, even before death prematurely claimed his life. Beyond his professional role, he had been a compassionate advocate for various causes close to his heart.
The voice of Eric Maigo, so tragically silenced, would, according to his father Zebedeo, forever haunt those responsible for his untimely demise.
Born in 1986 into a fairly simple family, he pursued his education well. He completed his accounting degree at Strathmore University and went on to study Commerce at the University of Nairobi.
His pursuit of employment led him to the insurance sector before he eventually secured a position at The Nairobi Hospital in 2023.
Amidst the mourning, Dinah Onchari, Maigo’s mother, spoke highly of her son.
“You were my light, the one I had counted on to take care of me in old age. They have taken away your young life,” she said.
Eric Maigo’s father echoed the painful trauma of a parent who’s lost a child, saying, “I am traumatized. No man, past, present, or yet to come, should have to go through that kind of suffering.” Despite the immense pain, the family stood united in their resolve for justice. “This crime was the work of Satan, and Satan shall never prevail, for God always triumphs,” he said.
Caroline Toni, Maigo’s sister, paid a touching tribute to her brother. “Even in your transition, you will continue inspiring me because of your industrious and adventurous nature, great intellect, calm, and gentle spirit.”
Among the dignitaries who came to pay their respects was Nyaribari Chache MP, Richard Tongi, which is normally a symbol of the community’s support during such unfortunate times.
As Eric Maigo found his final resting place, the tears shed served as a reminder of the painful loss felt by his loved ones. Amidst the sorrow, the family stood strong and hopeful, trusting that justice will eventually prevail.
