Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was on Sunday November 12 attacked during a public function.
From videos shared onlne, the youthful MP was handled and his speech cut short by rowdy goons.
He was whisked away by security officers and his bodyguards.
Speaking after the attack, Salasya blamed Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa for the attack.
He accused the first time governor of sponsoring goons who attacked him.
At the same time, he accused the governor of hampering Mumias Sugar reforms which he was vocal about.
“The goons of this Barasa Fernandes attacked me so innocently while addressing residents of mumias west ,but thank you my tight security for ensuring no one moves closer to me ,” Salasya wrote.
” And I will always say it as it is, Mumias sugar must run without Governor interference,” he added.
He however proceeded to address a public rally after leaving the venue where he continued with his push for Mumias Sugar reforms.
By the time of this publication, Governor Fernandes had not responded to Salasya’s accusations.
National Police Service had also not issued a statement in connection with the attack on the lawmaker.
