If time would be turned back, Peninah Lema Munyithya popularly known as Pesh, is probably among the people who would make decisions wisely.
Pesh, a socialite from Makueni County, has been stuck in a Ghanaian jail since July 2015, when she was arrested in the country over drug trafficking allegations.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that she is set to be released next month, after serving 6 years in jail. Previously, it was alleged that she had been jailed for 10 years.
Pesh found herself in the difficult situation just months after ‘launching her socialism career’ by releasing her explicit photos on her official Facebook page, which has remained dormant since July 29,2015, when she shared with her fans that she was at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport heading to Ghana.
“Thanks to God, dreams coming true…. another holiday for her majesty .# Ghana,” she shared
Had she not taken that trip, maybe she would be living her life to the fullest like her colleagues such as Vera Sidika, Huddah and Corazon Kwamboka.
After releasing her nudes, Pesh became the talk of town and soon enough she got gigs and deals that saw her go international. She would visit places like Dubai and enjoy herself at the Coast more often. That is when he met her Ghanaian/ Nigerian(as some alleged) lover that landed her in hot soup.
The man in question promised to take her on trips around the world and from the look of things, West Africa was the first place on the list
Pesh and her lover were to head to Ghana but the witty lover, a drug dealer, told her to proceed and he would follow her with the next flight as he had some things that he needed to settle first here in Kenya.
The socialite took both of their suitcases, unknown to her that her man’s clothes had well concealed drugs worth Kshs30 million and once in Ghana, she would be received by her lover’s ‘brother’.
All that time, Pesh was not aware that she was being used to transport illegal drugs that would be delivered to the said brother. At JKIA, she passed all the security checks but in Ghana she did not escape.
She tried reaching out to those who were using her but none of their contacts went through and that is how she had to pay the price.
An account of how Pesh’s life flipped was given by a woman identified as Lydia Wairimu, who claimed to have been college mates with the socialite back in Mt. Kenya University where she was pursuing a Bachelor’s in Project Management.
According to her, Pesh ended up in trouble because of her desire to lead a lavish and expensive lifestyle
