Nevo Evangelism founder Pastor James Maina Ng’ag’a has narrated how he lost Kshs630,000 offerings to fraudsters.
During a sermon to his congregants, Pastor Ng’ang’a said that the fraudsters emptied his mobile money accounts of the sim cards that are registered under his church for collection of offerings.
In the first instance, an unknown person visited a mobile service provider’s regional customer service outlet in Nakuru and swapped a sim card registered under James Maina Ng’ang’a before withdrawing money.
This saw the pastor lose offering amounting to Kshs200,000.
“I was contacted by the Jerusalem church and they informed me that the phone was not working, so I offered to visit the service provider’s office and sort the issue, however, the one registered for this church stopped working as well,” he stated.
On visiting the service provider, the televangelist was informed that someone swapped the the two sim cards at the same shop in Nakuru in two days.
He faulted the attendant for failing to confirm the IDs leading to the sim swap fraud.
Pasto Ng’ang’a called upon his congregants to be vigilant so that they don’t fall victims of such fraud. He further advised them to be strong during trials as God will help them.
“Seasons come and go. Do your work in all seasons, and leave the rest to God,” he said.
