Oscar Sudi, the Kapseret MP on Monday evening, May 11, heavily criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership after he ejected Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as the Senate majority leader and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika as majority whip.
In a statement on his Facebook page, the MP argued that the president should not be making changes in the Senate at a time the country is grappling with the Coronavirus pandemic.
“I have never seen a cheap president like Uhuru Kenyatta. How can a whole president fight a woman like Susan Kihika? A young man like Kipchumba Murkomen? Sudi questioned.
‘It is more shameful and embarrassing for a whole president to engage in political battles in the middle of Coronavirus pandemic,” he added.
Further, the MP accused dynasty families of having shares in almost all sectors of the economy in the country including; milk, land and banks.
“I ask the president to tame his greed for power and money as if he’ll live this world for 500 years. In fact, God will be kind to us if we manage to exceed 80 years of age because we are both consumers of whiskey,” he wrote on Facebook.
Sudi complained that Kenyans living in slums such as Kibra were starving, yet the government was not using its resources to feed them.
“People are so determined to remain in power instead of providing basic things to Kenyans at this time of the pandemic,” Sudi stated.
He concluded by regretting his 2017 decision to vote for Uhuru.
On his part, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa also alleged that the government had misplaced priorities.
He argued that the, main focus at such a time was tackling the Coronavirus pandemic, the floods and the poor in the country.
“Over 200 Kenyans have perished in floods, Covid-19 is at 30 with hundreds infected. The humanitarian and economic crisis during and post-Covid-19 will be catastrophic especially for the poor.
“Already thousands have lost jobs, millions have no food, their livelihoods threatened. Meanwhile, the focus is on?” he posed.
