Netizens have blamed Migori governor Okoth Obado for the violence that was meted on the philanthropic billionaire Jimi Wanjigi in Migori.
Jimi Wanjigi on Friday had a rough time in Migori as goons believed to be allied to the area leadership stoned him on top of his car.
Wanjigi had gone to Migori as part of his popularization campaign ahead of his 2022 presidential ambition in an ODM ticket.
According to the video clip seen by Sonko News, things were fine for Jimi Wanjigi who was chanting ODM Fagia Wote, until unknown goons started pelting stones at him.
Those who blamed Okoth Obado made reference to the past event where the governor frustrated other ODM officials amongst them the Mombasa governor Alli Hassan Joho.
Joho’s bodyguard was shot and injured by one attached to Migori’s Okoth Obado during a chaotic ODM rally. Apparently, the governor had made good his threat to prevent ODM from holding a rally in Migori town.
According to the Star, the rally at Posta grounds was completely disrupted when he arrived unannounced as Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o addressed the crowd.
Immediately after seeing him, the crowd booed and threw water bottles, stones and shoes at the podium.
This forced Obado’s guards to fire in the air. A bullet went through a VIP seat in an area where dignitaries were seated.
In a similar event, these individuals accused Okoth Obado of organizing the chaos meted on Jimi Wanjigi in a bid to paint the ODM party in bad light.
“I think these are UDA goons in Migori since governor Obado seems to be moving towards deputy president William Ruto. Wanjigi had a peaceful Rally in Kisumu and Homabay which are equally strongholds for ODM and it beats logic that the same supporters could stone him in Migori. I think someone stage managed this to paint ODM in bad light.” Said a Migori resident who spoke to Sonko News reporters on the ground.
Besides, Obado who is allied to Ruto was blamed because bloggers allied to DP Ruto such as Denis Itumbi were the first to release the videos of Wanjigi being stoned.
These people argued that the script was quickly made and a clip sent to Mr. Itumbi so that he runs with it to taint ODM.
“I come from Migori town and The moment i saw Itumbi release the video before anyone else, i knew the whole thing had been stage managed by the same people throwing blame games.” Said a social media user.
