ODPP Breaks Silence On ‘Inciting’ Videos By TGM Preacher

Date:

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has broken silence on the sermon by Transforming Grace Ministries Preacher Apostle Wycliffe Jackson, which has been deemed incitement.

In a statement, ODDP noted that the remarks, that have been widely circulated online could incite ethnic contempt, hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination among Kenyans.

“In one of the videos, the speaker utters the words: “… While Kikutyus are fighting Luos, Woriahs are taking over.” In the other video, the speaker says: :…I will make myself part of the people who have started the struggle  for the liberation of the Kikuyu. I will tell this people that our enemy is not Ruto, our enemy is the Somalis…” ” the statement read in part.

ODDP said it has directed DCI and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to “expeditiously carry out investigations and forward the resultant investigation inquiry for perusal and advice.”

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko also took to social media to criticize the preacher, warning that his remarks might land him in trouble.

“No, no, no Man of God, here you are totally wrong. This is incitement and it might land you in sh*t,” he said.

In the viral videos, the preacher claimed that people from the Woriah community, who are originally from Somali, were taking over the country while Kikuyus are busy fighting with Luos.

“Woriah is no longer a visitor in Kenya, the investments they are doing in Kenya is intentional, you can not be a guest and build something close to BBS Mall, take over South B, South C, Eastleigh, Utawala….” he said, adding that they even have Kenyan birth certificates and IDs, yet  most of them were not born in the country.

“Somebody is taking over while someone here is fertilizing ukabila,” he further said.
