President William Ruto is expected to nominate a number of individuals for the positions of Principal Secretaries, days after unveiling his cabinet nominees.
The president will select PSs from a list that will be recommended to him by the Public Service Commission(PSC).
In an announcement PSC revealed that 9,154 individuals had applied for the Principal secretary positions after the commission called for applications between September 7- September21 this year.
However, only 477 individuals were shortlisted and only 49 of them will be nominated by the president after being interviewed by PSC. President William Ruto increased the number of the PSs from the current one which stands at 44.
Some of the notable people on the list are Mary Wanyonyi who is the wife of IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and 20 PSs who served in the Jubilee government.
Uhuru Kenyatta’s PSs on the list are; Esther Koimett (Broadcasting and Telecommunications), Peter Kaberia (Industrialisation), Julius Jwan (Education), Saitoti Torome (Planning), Belio Kipsang(PS Regional and Northern Corridor Development), and Nelson Marwa (Social Protection).
Others are; Charles Hinga, Francis Owino and Jerome Ochieng who served as Housing, Agriculture and ICT PSs respectively.
Other officials in Kenyatta’s government that were shortlisted include Patrick Amoth, Mercy Mwangangi and Fred Segor.
ODM politician and former EACC boss Halake Waqo also made it to the list. He unsuccessfully vied for the Isiolo gubernatorial seat. The late Jakayo Midiwo’s wife Dr Rose Olayo Jakoroyo was also shortlisted.
Ruto’s allies who made it to the list include; Lang’ata MP candidate Nixon Korir who was trounced by Jalang’o in the August 9 general elections.
Others are former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa who lost in the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial race, former nominated senator Isaac Mwaura who lost in UDA nominations, former Narok governor Samuel Ole Tunai who lost the senatorial seat to Ledama Ole Kina.

They will be interviewed from October 12.
