Nurse Constructs Kshs.1.5 Million Police Station For Officers Operating Under A Tree

Date:

A Mwingi based nurse decided to extend her generosity to police officers based at Ngaiee police post by building them a police station.

Regina Mathuva who runs Neema Nursing Home in Mwingi decided to rescue the law enforcers who had been forced to operate under the scorching sun, sometimes rainy conditions as well as dust by constructing them a permanent structure at a cost of Kshs. 1.5 million.

According to Mathuva, she reached the decision to set up the building after finding the officers operating under a tree when she had gone to seek for help.

“When I visited the station seeking assistance, I was surprised to see the officers serving the public under a tree or inside their houses. It started raining heavily when we were under the tree while seeking assistance. I was disturbed and swore to make a change by building them a police post,” Mathuva said.

She asked for permission from Kyuso Sub County Police Commander so that she could construct the building.

“I was advised by the OCS to write a letter to the Kyuso OCPD explaining my intentions to build a shed for them, which I did and was granted permission to build this structure following a sketch from the corporal who was an officer in charge of the post,” she said.

Ngaaie Location Chief, Muthami Kitheka, said the newly constructed structure will help in improving security in the area market, which has been improving since the police officers were deployed in the area.

On her side, Kyuso Sub County Police Commander Beatrice Nduku Kigalu thanked the nurse for being kind to the police and urged members of the public to utilize the premises to improve security in the area.

“I thank Neema Nursing Home for their good thought to build us a police post. We all know when services are taken closer to the public, service delivery becomes efficient,” Kigalu said.
