NPS Dismisses Claims Of Kenyan Police Being Killed In Haiti

Date:

The National Police Service has responded to claims that 7 Kenyan police officers have been killed in Haiti.

The reports emerged online showing a group of Kenya police patrolling Haiti  with a caption,  “7 Kenya police reported dead in Haiti aki [President William Ruto] God will never forgive you.”

In a post on their official social media channel, NPS termed the news as Fake but did not provide any further details on the same

Reports about Kenyan police being executed at the Caribbean nation came after Haiti gang lead Jimi Cherizier alias Barbecue warned that the officers, who have been deployed for a peace mission will be fought to death.

“I don’t care if they are white or black. If they’re not Haitian and they’re on Haitian soil, they’re invaders,” he said.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, the dreaded gang leader however advocated for peace talks which he said should not be mistaken for surrender.

“It’s a bloodbath, It’s a fight for the country, and I will fight for it even if I die I am sure there will be successors and there will be other people who will continue with this fight,” Barbecue stated.

The first contingent of about 400 Kenyan police arrived in Haiti on June 25.
