Night Of Terror: Gunmen Ambush Nairobi-bound Bus Leaving At Least One Dead

Date:

One person has been reported dead and several others injured after the bus they were travelling in was ambushed on Monday night by gunmen.

The Salama bus was bound for Nairobi from Moyale, when the gunmen, believed to be from to be from the Shifta group, pounced on it between Bori Junction and Dadach along Moyale-Marsabit Highway. The attackers sprayed bullets on vehicle leaving it with a punctured tire and a shattered windscreen and panes.

Videos shared online show severely injured passengers being rushed  to hospital for medical attention. First responders were also captured helping those who had been trapped in the bus.

“These people are animals. They tried to finish us but who is God,” one of the survivors could be heard saying in the background of one of the videos.

Police arrived at the scene to probe the incident and they are yet to release an official statement on the matter.

A similar incident was witnessed in June last year, when Alshabab militants accosted a bus along Mandera-Wajir highway. The about 15 terrorists shot in the air forcing the driver to stop. They then made passengers alight from the bus. However, none of the 55 who were aboard the bus was harmed.
