Date:

Nigerian Singer Ida Banton has just arrived in Kenya today. Confirmation from his social media posts as he alights, has been circulating through social media platforms.

Following his last hit song in 2021, the Nigerian pop star was elevated onto the next stardom by his single “No Wahala “ which he did in 2021. Propelled by Tik Tok a social media platform for sharing, discovering and creating across communities, the song became an instant hit on most streaming platforms.

The talented dancehall artist, came through with a post pandemic hit dubbed “no wahala” which a Nigerian term coined for no problem.

Most of the Nigerian artist have been gaining a positive support from Kenyan fans, with the very last one being a female pop artist Tiwa Savage, who jet into the country for a last Saturday launch of her make up product, a lip stick labelled “Mac”.

Most Kenyan artist have reacted to this, some complaining that a lot of Kenyan music lovers are not in support of their own products, which is creating an economical imbalance in the Kenyan music industry as it lowers revenue collection from the music they produce.

Eric Omondi, a Kenyan comedian yesterday hosted a concert around parliament buildings, proposing for a change in the music industry. Even though information about his Kenyan tour is net yet clear, whether he is on a personal business or he is in Kenya for a concert is not out, Kenyan artist are being moved by event organizers who opt to promote foreign artist rather than they own musicians yet they all need a platform.

However, the Kenyan music industry has grown from way back when there were only a few competitors in the market, these days even upcoming young stars can shake alt of radio waves as long as they do good music. It’s the streaming and local events that’s really being affected by foreign influence.

The Nigerian music industry is also not left behind as many of its artist are performing not only in Kenya but a lot are also going global.
