Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Wangui Ngirici together with her husband were insulted by UDA members in a TangaTanga WhatsApp group prompting her to contemplate leaving.
Ngirici has been very uncomfortable in William Ruto’s UDA ever since her fiercest rival Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru joined the camp.
The Kirinyaga Women Rep has been threatening to quit UDA ever since Waiguru joined the camp over claims that Ruto is endorsing her for re-election.
On Saturday November 28th during his visit to Kirinyaga county, Ruto assured both Ngirici and Waiguru that UDA nominations for the Kirinyaga governor race will be free and fair.
“I shall not influence the nominations. You are the people who have the power and the final say on who your preferred candidate is. If you are tasked in electing the president, will you be unable to accomplish this small task of electing your governor?” Ruto said.
Apart from claims of favoritism which is making her to consider leaving UDA, Ngirici also said that her colleagues in TangaTanga have been frustrating her.
Speaking to Standard, the Kirinyaga Women Rep recounted how her husband and her were insulted in a TangaTanga WhatsApp group.
“At one time, I was insulted in TangaTanga Whatsapp group where Ruto is. My husband too was dragged into it and called names but he was not in the group to defend himself. This pained me and I called Ruto to express my displeasure,” Ngirici said.
Ngirici is now mulling the possibility of popularizing her party Citizen Convention Party (CPP), where her husband is the party leader, and believes she can get at least three MPs in Kirinyaga.
