The immediate family of the slain Frank Obegi has opened up on the true financial status of their son before he was mysteriously killed.
While speaking to a local media, Frank Obegi’s mother Beatrice Nyanchama dismissed claims that her son was involved in conning people online.
According to Beatrice, Obegi was just living a normal life like any other broke youth outside there.
Infact, the mother confessed that the son recently asked her to send him 70 Kenya shillings which she did not have by then.
“The last time we spoke was on Saturday, June 11 when he called me saying his phone was off and he wanted sh 70 which i did not have.” She revealed.
Feeling concerned about Frank Obegi’s phone being off, the mother called his friends only to learn that he had been mysteriously murdered and dumped in a forest.
“It is unfortunate that they were brutally killed and their bodies dumped and left to be eaten by animals.” She stated.
These sentiments were reiterated by another family member who disclosed that the deceased never had much money as was being portrayed in the public.
“He could at some point ask for as little as 100 shillings to buy lunch. Whenever he got some money, for instance 10,000 Kenya shillings, he could fly to the coast where he could buy items and post them online. That is what people perceived as a lavish lifestyle which was not the case.” He said.
The bodies of Twitter influencer Frank Obegi and three of his friends were discovered on Monday, badly mutilated, and dumped in Kijabe forest, Kiambu County. The other three were Elijah Omeka, Fred Obare and Moses Nyachae.
After the news of their death, reports revealed that the three lived lavishly, driving the latest vehicle models and drinking the most expensive drinks in company of women.
Further social media reports speculated that the four were involved in digital fraud where they scammed the wrong person who bitterly revenged by going for their lives.
