Twin brothers, Eddie and Paul Ndichu will now face charges after they were filmed assaulting two women in a Nairobi hotel.
This follows a directive from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions that the twin brothers be charged.
The two are expected in court on Thursday, where they will be charged with assault and malicious damage to property.
The two women in question, 24-year old Stephanie Murgor and her 22-year old sister Cheryl Murgor accused the brothers of committing the offense on October 17 at the Emara Ole Sereni Hotel.
The police handling the matter at the Lang’ata Directorate of Criminal Investigations said that they had informed the lawyer representing the Ndichu brothers to present them in court for plea taking on Thursday.
“They are out on bond, but the lawyer has been informed to present them in court for plea taking of assault and malicious damage to property,” one of the officers said.
Their lawyer, Edwin Sifuna, said that he is disappointed by the ODPP’s decision to charge the Ndichus instead of the Murgor sisters.
“I am disappointed by the decision of the DPP for not charging the Murgor sisters when it is clear that they were supposed to be charged on the following charges. The Murgor sisters should be charged with extortion and defamation with use of GBV (Gender Based Violence) and should also be charged with affray for public fighting and nuisance for their altercation with Munira Munira,” Sifuna expressed.
The brothers were questioned and recorded statements before their file was forwarded to ODPP with charge recommendations.
The sister also recorded further statements narrating the events that took place on the fateful night.
A witness who was also assaulted in the drama recorded his statement and was issued with a P3.
The sisters were attending a wedding after party on the 10th floor of the hotel in company of two friends, Samuel Ramdas whose car was ruined and Patrick Koech when the incident occurred.
