Former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has spoken about his political future, as he begins the hunt for the Trans Nzoia Governor seat in 2022.
Natembeya who was speaking during an interview with Radio Citizen on Monday, said he was fully behind President Uhuru Kenyatta, and the ‘Handshake’, reiterating that he would swing to the side the Head of State would support.
“I have worked with the president, and I cannot in any way lose my principals because of politics, If he asks me to go this way, I will go because I can never betray the president,” Natembeya said.
In an interview with a local station, Natembeya said before he threw his hat in the ring, he had consulted President Uhuru as well as the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
He says the Head of State, as well as the Interior CS, supported his move to now seek an elective seat in the coming polls.
“Rais anaunga mkono kabisa hatua ambayo nimechukua, including my former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi, na pia PS,” He added.
“Hii ni maneno ambayo ilikuwa na mjadala na tukakubaliana, lakini sahii focus ni kwanza ni kwa wanannchi wa Trans Nzoia,”
Natembeya who capped a 25-year career in public service that saw him traverse all the 47 counties of Kenya, also laid out his plans, for the first 100 days in office should he be voted in.
