Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has defended her husband Murega Baichu after he was grilled by detectives over the murder of blogger Daniel Muthiani who was famously known as Sniper.
Mwangaza noted that eventually the truth shall be known regarding the matter.
In a statement posted on her Facebook page, the governor insinuated that her family has been targeted due to lies propagated regarding the blogger’s murder.
“Calm in the midst of the storm. Lies can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on shoes,” Mwangaza stated.
“We Shall Overcome Gloriously With God’s Grace!” she added.
Baichu recorded a statement days after detectives raided their home in Meru over the gruesome murder.
After the raid, Mwangaza directed the DCI to question other Meru leaders who have issued public statements over Sniper’s murder.
“Why is the Directorate of Criminal Investigations – DCI Slow in getting statements from some Meru MCA’S and MP’s?” Mwangaza posed.
“They are all over the County and in public meetings claiming to know the Killers. And how/ where the incident took place,” she added.
“If the DCI won’t hold the elected leaders responsible, then they should stop making any further arrests,” Mwangaza demanded.
At the moment, five suspects are in custody in connection with the murder. They were nabbed in Meru town within Meru County by detectives from the Homicide Investigation Department at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on January 4, 2024 and booked at various police stations within Nairobi and Kiambu.
