Tigania East Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi accused Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza of using an edited clip to taint him badly before the senate to win their mercies during the impeachment hearing.
The lawmaker accused Governor Mwangaza of doctoring the video which was played at the Senate to suit her narrative. Mpuru thus vowed to present himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to write a statement and call for investigations.
MP Aburi refuted claims that he demeans women during his public rallies.
The legislator stated he has the whole footage of what he said and will present it to the DCI to aid in their probe.
“I want an apology from our Governor because she lied to Kenyans. I am ready to present myself to DCI and record a statement. Let her bring the said video and I come with the full video of everything I said… the video played at senate was only showing cuts that portrayed me as a person who has been causing havoc to women,” he stated on Friday, November 10.
In the video which was played at the Senate, Mpuru was captured verbally attacking Governor Mwangaza for not having children with her current husband.
The lawmaker was heard making a charged address while rubbing a stick between his palms as spoke in the Meru vernacular language.
Asked by her advocate to tell the Senate what the MP was saying, Governor Mwangaza said:
“He is saying he has given me 9 months to be pregnant and if that is not done. He will do it via what he is holding,” the county boss stated before shedding tears.
Mwangaza however survived the second impeachment motion tabled at the Senate.
