Former K24 news anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga will be vying for the Matuga parliamentary seat in the coming General Elections.
On Thursday October 16, Deputy President William Ruto announced that Chidzuga and Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani had been welcomed officially to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) political party during his tour in the county.
“Empowered more than 500 Kombani Town small traders in Matuga Constituency, Kwale County; later welcomed new members, including Kwale Deputy Governor Fatuma Achani and broadcaster Mwanaisha Chidzuda, to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA),” DP Ruto said on twitter.
Chidzuga has however failed to confirm or deny whether she is now part of UDA.
Speaking to a local website, Chidzuga said that she is not focused on joining political parties but she is focused on what she will bring to the table.
The media personality said that she has not made a decision about the political party that she will be using for her political career.
She explained that she was present at DP Ruto’s Thursday rally as a person who was seeking votes since Ruto was making a good move to empower a good number of youths and women.
“We are grateful that the Deputy President has visited Matuga Constituency for the first time. As an MP aspirant for Matuga constituency, I had to show my support to the people,” Mwanaisha remarked.
She revealed that her decision to join a political party will depend on the people’s decision.
“We shall go where the ground directs. Yesterday the ground was enthusiastic about UDA. If they change, then we change,” she said.
Chidzuga further welcomed other leaders to the area saying that she will support them saying that her intention is only to work for the people.
