Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula might as well be left out of the Western Region politics ahead of 2022 general election after they defied Atwoli’s meeting.
Amani National Congress (ANC) leader, Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford-Kenya Leader, Moses Wetangula, did not show up for the meeting.
The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General, Francis Atwoli, hosted 30 Members of Parliament (MPs), three Governors, Senators, and a Cabinet Secretary from Western Kenya at his Kajiado home in a bid to revive the elusive Luhya unity.
“We have issued our proposals of the industries that we would like looked at including the granite in Vihiga,” Cleophas Malala.
The leaders talked about the western region’s political future ahead of the elections in 2022.
The politicians also requested to get more leadership positions in the re-alignment of the National Assembly and the senate.
“The leaders have chosen Emmanuel Wangwe, the MP for Navakholo, to represent leaders in the National Assembly, while I should be allowed to represent the leaders in the Senate,” Malala added.
The only Governor from the region who skipped the meeting was Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong.
Governors from the Western region including Wilberforce Otichilo (Vihiga), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), and Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma) were in attendance.
The group of western politicians celebrated Tongeren MP, Eseli Simiyu’s new elevation to Deputy Minority Whip in the National Assembly.
