President William Ruto named his cabinet on Tuesday September 26 . The mentioned individuals will be vetted by parliament before taking up responsibilities in their respective offices.
In his choices, Ruto rewarded his political loyalists who have stood with him through thick and thin like Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale but left out others.
Even though the cabinet slots are limited there are names that Kenyans expected would have been considered after suffering great losses in the general elections.
Some of them include former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, former Machakos senator Johnson Muthama who is also the UDA chairman, Former Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru.
Others who surprisingly missed out cabinet positions include former Turkana governor Josephat Nanok who also served as director-general of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential campaign team and the coalition’s chief agent, David Ndii, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, former Migori governor Okoth Obado, Mike Sonko who revealed that he had earned a CS position, 3 PS poistions, 4 ambassadorial slota among others after ditching Azimio for Kenya Kwanza.
After missing out on the slots, some took to their respective social media channels to congratulate those appointed while others have not uttered a word about the appointments. Here are some of the reactions;
“Congratulations to the very able men and women who have been nominated to the Cabinet. I wish you all the best as you serve our people in your new mandate. Mungu Mbele,” Cate Waruguru said.
“I wish to thank & congratulate the president H.E@WilliamsRuto for giving Kenya a balanced & competent cabinet. We are confident that these ladies & gentlemen will deliver on our Manifesto to the people of Kenya,” Johson Muthama said.
“A cabinet that represents the face of Kenya. Thank you Mr. President@WilliamsRuto,” Millicent Omanga wrote.
Others like Cleophas Malala, Ndii, Omar, Ndindi Nyoro, Nanok among others are yet to issue their statements. Mike Sonko only shared a list of those appointed.
