“Mumelipwa Kuua Wakenya” Drama In Parliament As Mombasa MP Alleges Tax On Cancer Patients

Date:

Things are heating up in parliament as MPs debate on the Finance Bill 2024, that has seen Kenyans take to the streets in protests.

While making her submissions, Mombasa Mp Zamzam Chimba claimed that the bill also seeks to impose levies on ancer patients.

UDA MP and the  finance committee chair Kuria Kimani however challenged her to provide the exact clause on the Finance Bill that seeks to impose a levy on cancer patients.

“I have heard my colleague, Mombasa MP, claiming that there is a levy on cancer patients. I would like her to explain to me which clause in this bill talks about that because, Hon. Speaker, the issue of misinforming and lying to Kenyans on such things because of politics, is wrong and shouldn’t be allowed,” Kuria said.

Zamzam however did not take the challenge lying down, calling out Kenya Kwanza MPs and accusing them of being paid to pass bills that are frustrating Kenyans.

“Nipee nafasi Mheshimiwa speaker nitaingalia mahali kipengee kiko lakini kiko,” she said as honourable members shouted at her for failing to be factual.

“Nipigieni kelele. Mimi sijali, nitawaambia ukweli, wakenya wahangaika, mumepewa pesa nyingi kuua wakenya katika bunge hili,” the determined female MP went on before her microphone was switched off as her colleagues continued to jeer at her.
