Sonko News has established from highly reliable sources that Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi is angry at Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala for lying to him.
Apparently, Cleophas Malala told Musalia Mudavadi prior to abandoning One Kenya Alliance (OKA) that all was well in Ruto’s camp since he (Malala) had successfully negotiated for the running mate position.
The running position would be given to Musalia Mudavadi according to this source and it is one of the motivating factors which made the ANC leader dump OKA without a second thought.
In fact, Musalia is said to have held his ground that he would only join Ruto if Cleophas Malala the negotiator assured him of the deputy president’s position. It is confirmed Mudavadi argued that he would not make any meaningful impact in handing Ruto votes if he did not get a senior position in the UDA.
Being a cunning man, Cleophas Malala reportedly told Mudavadi that all was well and he would be Ruto’s running mate especially if he (Mudavadi) also convinced Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula to join as a top up. Wetangula would be given a senior position in the government, probably a speaker or the post of the attorney general.
However, the source revealed that all is not going well in the Kenya Kwanza coalition as planned since there are powerful forces who are against Musalia Mudavadi for being a “latecomer” and “not carrying much influence” in Western region.
Besides, these powerful forces argue that Musalia Mudavadi is as broke as a church mouse and will only be a burden to William Ruto, unlike Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua who has deep pockets.
Fastforward, Mudalia Mudavadi is said to have sent his attack dog Cleophas Malala to make it clear in public that they would not repeat the mistakes they made while they were in the National Super Alliance (NASA).
On Saturday, Celophas Malala stated at a meeting in Western Kenya that they in ANC demand the Kenya Kwanza running mate position as the irreducible minimum. According to Malala, Musalia Mudavadi must be William Ruto’s running mate no matter what.
The Kakamega senator added that Kenya Kwanza was a coalition of parties as opposed to a coalition of regions, hence the deputy position should not be preserved for a specific region such as the Mt. Kenya.
“This time round, we are giving a demand that this is a coalition of parties not a coalition of regions. Let not people assemble somewhere and tell us that those people deserve the deputy president’s position because they sit on a hill as opposed to us who are on the other side. We are demanding that as UDA goes with the post of the president, then ANC must be rewarded with the runningmate’s position.” Demanded malala.
Malala continued: “We as ANC are not ready to repeat the mistakes we made in NASA. Ruto must pick Mudavadi as his running mate. That’s our irreducible minimum. Kenya Kwanza is not a coalition of regions. Politicians from Mt. Kenya region should not say the post is reserved for them.”
Also, Musalia Mudavadi is very mad with Cleophas Malala since he took a political risk knowing very well that the Western region has always voted for Raila odinga since time immemorial. Even the latest polls conducted by Opinion Track in Western region a few days ago revealed that Raila would garner 80% of the votes while Ruto would only get 20% because of the Musalia and Wetangula factor.
