Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos got involved in a heated exchange over support of Raila Odinga.
The incident took place during the funeral ceremony of Mzee Wilson Maru Chelilim at Kapsang, Ziwa Ward, Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
In his speech Barasa said that the Western region is fully behind Deputy President William Ruto presidential bid while accusing Azimio movement of believing in dark powers.
Barasa further said that UDA and ANC share common values and that is why Raila was not invited to ANC’s NDC.
“The current Musalia is different. He has an NDC on Sunday and he said I quote him ‘Raila Amollo Odinga you are not welcomed’. On Sunday I will be at Bomas at 9.00 am to check if vehicles. If Tinga will be there I will make him alight so that he goes back to where he would have come from because ANC and UDA we share common values,” Barasa said.
He went on to bash Tolgos for being part of Azimio saying that after the next general election, he will be having a bouncer job if he loses his gubernatorial seat.
“I want to tell my brother Tolgos that the coming government is bottom-up, if you don’t organize yourself and lose the gubernatorial seat because it is bottom and you are up there, finding a job won’t be easy for you. Maybe you will be a bouncer in a bar for you to survive.
“Education and your title does not mean your reasoning is bigger than other peoples’. Like here in Rift Valley uneducated women, the elderly and youths know that William Ruto is the one who will form the government but Tolgos, a whole governor from university does not have that reasoning,” Barasa said.
Responding to the critics Tolgos admitted that Uasin Gishu was DP Ruto’s stronghold and he could not popularize Azimio agenda but called upon leaders to accommodate each other despite different political affiliations.
“As Azimio we are also here. Am also praying that God’s will get done on the presidential election. If your prayers are sincere, William Ruto will be president and if you are not sincere in prayers we on the other side we will take up the leadership.
“For us to have peace, we must accommodate each other. I want to say utterances like Didmus Barasa’s..He is from western, listen just as Ruto has supporters has supporters in western, Raila too has supporters in here and you will listen to us whether you like it or not,” Tolgos said.
