The parliament will be resuming its sittings after a three week recess that was occasioned by the invasion of protestors on June 25, 2024.
Among matters lined up for discussion in the the Finance Bill 2024 that President William Ruto declined to ascend into law.
According to Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, the MPs will be voting for the bill.
“Under our standing orders when the president sends a memorandum of that nature, any member who wants to overturn that memorundum or any provision therein must garner two thirds of the members of the house.
“We will be placing the memorandum before the house,” Wetang’ula said.
He also dispelled claims that the bill was going to be operational 14 days after being rejected by the head of state.
“That is not true and we have no provision in law or under the constitution for that. The bill is in limbo awaiting the next vote on it,” the speaker said.
