Moses Njoroge jailed after throwing woman he met on Facebook off 12th floor

Date:

Moses Njoroge has received a five-year prison term for throwing his girlfriend off the 12th floor.

Moses Njoroge was found guilty of causing the victim grievous bodily harm by the Milimani chief magistrate Esther Kimilu. The two had met online on Facebook.

“I note the mandatory sentence is life imprisonment but due to the remorsefulness of the accused and the commitment to change, has persuaded me to jail him to five years in prison,” the magistrate decided.

A fine was not an option provided by the court. Two years after the incident, according to the magistrate, the victim is still receiving treatment.

On September 13, 2020, Njoroge was accused of inflicting serious physical damage on his girlfriend.

Njoroge pleaded for a moderate punishment and claimed to be a first-time offender in his statement of mitigation.

The woman explained to the court how her lover had thrown her from a city building’s 12th story to its 9th floor in March.

Njoroge had invited her to the 12th floor of Ambank House, she told the court.

The victim, who received care for two months at KNH, testified in court that she had traveled from Karura, where she lived, to Nairobi CBD on September 13, 2020, to see her partner.

She contacted Njoroge when she got to the CBD, and he told her to come visit him at Ambank House.
