Moses Kuria, the Gatundu South MP on Sunday, May 17, detailed claims of a plan to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.
Mr. Kuria took to Facebook to post a message claiming that the Jubilee ‘party owner’, in a veiled reference to President Uhuru Kenyatta, had a plan to impeach Ruto.
“The Jubilee Party Owner Occupier has given express instruction to Senator Irungu Kang’ata to initiate the removal of Professor Kithure Kindiki as Deputy Speaker in the Senate so as to pave way for the impeachment of William Ruto.
“Like Job, we refuse to give up on our Living God. We shall overcome. God will not forsake the righteous to appease the evil,” the post reads in part.
This came after Uhuru on Monday, May 11, chaired a Jubilee Senate Parliamentary Group meeting which proposed changes in the top Senate positions.
The changes included the ousting of Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was replaced by his West Pokot counterpart Samuel Poghisio as the Senate Majority Leader.
Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who held the position of Senate Majority Chief whip was replaced by her deputy, and Murang’a counterpart Irungu Kang’ata.
The sentiments coming at a time when Uhuru’s frosty relationship with Ruto had escalated to the point where allies on both sides were willing to call out respective faction leaders risking disciplinary action.
Moses Kuria who had been vocal after the ouster of Murkomen and Kihika on Monday, May 11, went to the extent of claiming that the 2013 and 2017 elections might have been rigged.
Kuria’s post blew up Facebook as 30 minutes into the post over 800 people had commented with another 100 sharing the post.
