One of the interviews had been scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 with Inooro FM’s Jeff Kuria and Nyoxx wa Kata and the second, was supposed to be hosted by Joseph Kerich of Chamgei FM on Monday, May 25.

Speaking to a local news site, the MP stated that he had not been informed about the reason for the cancellation.
He also announced the same to his followers on Facebook and hinted that the Royal Media Services-owned stations could have been arm-twisted into the decision.

“Sorry guys. Royal Media has cancelled both shows on orders from above. State capture at its best and tomorrow they will be crying freedom of the media. Pathetic !!,” he stated.

The news came on the backdrop of a meeting between Kuria, Senators Senator Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi), and Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho).

MPs Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Nixson Korir (Lang’ata) and Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira) were also in attendance.

Kuria chose to keep the cards close to his chest during a phonecall with a local news site about the agenda of the meeting.

“We were just having lunch,” was his response. Photos of the meeting, however, created a buzz online, with many speculating that the group was taking stock of events that saw three of their counterparts lose senior positions in the Senate.
