Ksh2 million that William Ruto donated to traders at Kongowea market has been looted, and Nyali MP Mohammed Ali is at the center of it all.
Ruto gave the money to traders during his campaign trail in Mombasa county where he pitched camp for a week.
The DP visited Kongowea market in Nyali Constituency on October 16th and gave traders Ksh2 million meant to boost small-scale businesses.

Well, Kongowea traders through their chairperson Richard Nyangoto has revealed that only Ksh700,000 was given to them of the Ksh2 million that Ruto dished out.
The traders say the remaining Ksh1.3 million was deposited to private accounts as they were left to fight over Ksh700,000.
“The Ksh2 million donated by the DP help small scale businesses landed in the wrong hands,” said Richard Nyangoto.
He said the market has over 10,000 traders most of who live from hand to mouth and rely on their businesses to make ends meet but missed out on the Ruto empowerment package.
Nyangoto who was flanked by Kongowea market patron Philip Sammy and market committee member Millicent Odudo, said the money was distributed when most of the traders had left the market.
“The purported officials had sidelined the bonafide market officials intending to embezzle the money and we, therefore, want the balance recovered,” he said.
“Some traders were to receive Ksh100 and others Ksh50 which is an insult,” he added.
Nyangoto claimed money has caused division among the traders. He noted that before Ruto’s tour and dishing of the money the traders at the market were united.
The chairman further noted that they alerted Nyali MP Mohammed Ali about the disappearance of the funds at Kongowea market but they were ignored.
Kongowea market patron Philip Sammy lauded Ruto for his frequent visits to the market but he sympathized with him for the incident in which the money meant for the traders ended up in the wrong hands.
He said those who attended the rally at the market were people brought in from outside the area to share the money meant for traders.
