Mixed Reactions As Elon Musk Finalizes On Twitter Deal

As his latest acquisition, Twitter, is on the verge of limiting free space in the digital world with new measures being sent out day by day, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has sparked intense controversy online.

Last week the billionaire finished his $44 billion payout, and with this came the exit of top executive bosses even though reports have been circulated that the billionaire move is to fire employees in order to avoid payout, himself has denied the claims.

The takeover of the social media platform has now caused a great debate across Kenya’s social media platforms, with most civilians who are heavy users of this twitter spaces. celebrities have not been left out most of them are now faced with plans over the monthly bill that the billionaire has just rolled down to them in case they would like to keep their blue badge up on their pages.

“verified twitter users will have to pay $20 monthly to keep that blue checkmark if Elon Musk gets his way. Sign up within 90 days or lose it,” renowned Kenyan based CNN international correspondent Larry Madowo kickstarted the conversation online.

“Getting verification on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram is particularly easy, but getting twitter verification…I see people with blue ticks on twitter act like they are the president and now is only going to cost us Sh2000 to join you. Here we come,” social media personality and kiss 100 FM presenter Kamene Goro threw her comeback post.

However some of the Kenyan celebrities, have  dismissed this discomfort with others claiming they are not even a fun of social media platforms even though social media is what keeps content creators and audiences glued together in this era.
