A video linked to the incident where controversial Meru senator Mithika Linturi sneaked into a woman’s hotel room has come back to haunt him during vetting in parliament.
The members of the committee put Mithika Linturi to task to explain if he was really fit to hold a public office given how he behaved in the past which goes against chapter six of the constitution.
The members of the committee had a difficult time getting to the bottom of the issue as speaker Moses Wetangula quickly came to the defense of Mithika Linturi.
According to the 39 seconds long video, Linturi, who was seated on a bed in a T-shirt and a towel wrapped around his waist, was confronted by several people at the hotel over his immoral action.
He was heard blaming his actions of over drunkenness while insisting that he had a woman in his hotel room who was also drunk but he could not tell where she was.
“How can you forget? When you are at home, do you go to sleep in your children’s bedroom or? Just be sincere?” another guest was heard questioning him.
Linturi is facing charges of attempted rape and indecent act with an adult. The incident occurred on January 30,2021 at around 3 am at Maiyan Villas in Nanyuki.
According to court documents, when Linturi entered the room that the woman was in, she thought that it was her husband who was back and since the lights were off she could not tell that it was a stranger. The person began touching her unusually without uttering a word.
Later on, someone knocked on her door and when she went to check, she was shocked to find her husband standing at the door and that made her realise that there was a stranger in her room, thus raising the alarm.
