Kenyan mother, Catherine Anyango and her daughter Michelle were found dead inside a van.
Finland’s police have initiated an investigation into the mysterious deaths of the two Kenyans.
The remains of Catherine Anyango and her daughter Michelle were discovered inside their van at a parking lot.
Local media report that Catherine, and Michelle, who police say is in her twenties, went to work at a samosa stand in Nilsi but did not go back home.
heir relatives had already attempted to contact them without success.
The authorities said they were informed about the missing women on February 8, and they were found dead the next day, in Tahko.
According to local police, the case is being probed, but there may not have been any criminal intent so far.
It is believed that the two women died of exposure to carbon monoxide after taking rests after work inside their van, in the low temperatures in Finland.
The two had been missing for seven days, according to their family.
“The deceased, Catherine and Michelle, were last seen alive at 04.00 of Saturday morning doing their daily selling of food in their truck. Apparently, after closing the business, it’s suspected that they decided to take a nap in the truck based on the position they were found in, sleeping side by side.”
“After the autopsy, it’s been discovered that the cause of death is inhaling carbon monoxide in their sleep, leading to lack of oxygen. So, it’s possible that they used charcoal to cook or something that produces carbon monoxide because the truck had carbon monoxide. The police have allowed for funeral arrangements and collection of the bodies ASAP.” According to reports.
