Miguna Not Interested In Ruto’s Offer Of Bringing Him Back To Kenya Because Of This

Date:

Deputy president William Samoei Ruto has vowed to bring back general Miguna Miguna into the country if he is elected the president of the republic of Kenya.

Ruto while speaking to the Voice of America (VoA) condemned the dramatic deportation of Miguna Miguna which he together with the Jubilee government presided over in 2017.

The swahili news anchor had taken Ruto head on to explain why the Uhuruto Jubilee government which Ruto is serving 10 years now supported the deportation of Miguna and even disobeyed several court orders on several occasions.

As a result, William Ruto made it clear that Miguna will be back into the country immediately should his administration take over the leadership of the country.

“We will bring back Miguna Miguna in the country within the shortest time possible. This is because he’s Kenyan and even if he has committed a crime, we have laws in place that he would be tried against. I don’t see any need for having refugees from other countries while our very own is a refugee in another country,” Ruto said.

However, Miguna seemed not to be interested in Ruto’s offer as he gave a rather cold response by claiming that Ruto had answered the question correctly. From that response, Miguna sounded like he had given up on Kenya due to how he had been mishandled in the past.

Besides, Miguna was not excited about the offer because William Ruto was at the fore front and very silent when he was being deported to Canada as a refugee those days. The fact that the deputy president did not help him when it mattered most might have made the general to welcome the cunning offer with a pinch of salt.

As a result, those close to Miguna believe that Ruto may just be engaging in empty campaigns promises and may not actually help Miguna come back to Kenya having participated fully in the predicaments he is facing now.

“Ruto is not genuine about this issue. If he really believed that a Kenyan ought not to be made a refugee in other countries then he could have told president Uhuru Kenyatta not to deport him in 2017. He cannot now start pretending while he was and is still in the same government that deported Miguna like a dog.” Said a source close to Miguna.

On their side, Kenyans aso read mischief in the deputy presidents offer and had the following to say:

“miguna atangoja like we waited for the laptops…some meffi propaganda

“Miguna aendelee kungoja, like 1million jobs and stadium..govt is for Baba

“He’s the Deputy President, if he wants him back then he can easily join his entourage back to Kenya, wacheni kutubeba malenge., kwani pia @MigunaMiguna ni ngombe aje?”

The vibrant lawyer had on several occasions tried to come back into his motherland but has always met obstacles on his path. For instance, he made his second attempt to come back in January 2020 but was denied boarding rights following red alerts by the Kenyan government.

“This is to inform Kenyans and the world that Air France officials at the check-in counter at the Berlin Brandenburg Airport have just informed me that the Government of Kenya sent them a ‘red alert’ this morning that they cannot fly me to Nairobi. I’m waiting for a cop,” he tweeted then.

In the meantime, the Nairobi high court last year dismissed the application by lawyer Miguna Miguna which sought to compel the government lift all the previous red alerts that were issued against him.

According to the high court, there was no evidence to show that the outspoken lawyer had been blocked from coming back to the country.

Miguna had accused the government of frustrating his efforts of returning to the country by giving strict alerts against him. He was set to come back to the country on Tuesday, November 16, 9:00 am.

Miguna Miguna who currently resides in Canada was dealt a blow by the government of Kenya after he presided over an illegal swearing in ceremony.

According to the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, it was vital for the lawyer to be kicked out of the country on grounds that he had renounced his citizenship. As a result, he was asked to first work on his papers before being permitted into the country.

Law Society of Kenya president Mr. Nelson Havi had promised to appeal the court decision if the former National Resistance Movement (NRM) was blocked from coming back to his motherland. His efforts were however futile.

“The only hindrance for Miguna’s return was the red alerts. We argued the case before Justice Edwin Okundi. If the ruling is in favor, there should be no reason as to why any airline should deny him permission to board. We have done what is legally required to ensure Miguna comes back,” he said.
