Migori Man Commits Suicide After Beating Wife Over Infidelity

Date:

Police in Migori are investigating an incident whereby a man’s lifeless body was found days after engaging in a confrontation with his wife.

The deceased’s body, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was found lying along the Migori- Isebania road on Sunday, October 10.

According to the Suna East Sub-County Police boss Esau Ochorokodi, the deceased is suspected to have consumed a poisonous substance.

“The deceased committed suicide by consuming a poisonous chemical, adding that there was foam coming out of his mouth,” Ochorokodi said.

The body of the deceased was discovered by locals in Total area who later informed the police.

Vincent Opondo, a witness said that the deceased might have consumed poisonous substance that was found beside his lifeless body.

“Police have taken the poisonous substance and I suspect it might have caused his death,” Opondo said.

Another witness revealed that the deceased assaulted his wife a few days ago while accusing her of infidelity.

After the incidence with his wife, the man is said to have gone missing before his body was found.

“The man had family issues and it is unfortunate that he decided to end his life instead of solving the matter,” the witness said.

Ochorokodi confirmed claims that the deceased had assaulted his wife on Friday night. He said that the man had claimed his wife was seeing other men.

“It is absurd that his body was later found even before any action could be taken over the issues he had raised,” the police said.

According to him, detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were already questioning the woman in question.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Migori Referral Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy which will be conducted on Tuesday, October 12.
