A man Kentucky who threw a boomerang that flew back and hit him on the deal sued himself for US$300,000 – and won.
Surprisingly the case cost him nothing because all the money he won came from his insurance company.
Larry Rutman, of Owensboro, was awarded the windfall after a court found he ’caused body damage through negligence and carelessness’.
‘I paid all that insurance for a long time just in case something unforeseen like this ever happened,’ Rutman said.
After the accident which Rutman claimed affected his memory and made him oversexed, the complainant was also planning to sue the boomerang manufacturer unit; his lawyer advised him to drop the case.
Another Man Sues Himself for vehicle damage
When a dump truck trucked into Curtis Gokey’s car, he decided to sue the city for the damages caused, the only thing he was not aware of is that he was the one driving the dump truck.
But that minor detail Gokey didn’t put into consideration while filing a $3,600 claim for the December accident, even after admitting the crash was his fault.
After the city denied that claim because Gokey in reality was suing himself, he and his wife, Rhonda, decided to file a new complaint under her name.
The City’s Attorney Steve Schwabauer said the second case also lacked merit since Rhonda Gokey could not sue her husband.

“You can sue your spouse for a divorce, but you can’t sue your spouse for negligence,” Schwabauer said.
“They’re a married couple under California law. They’re one entity. It’s damage to community property.”
But Rhonda argued that she had “the right to sue the city because a city’s vehicle damaged my private vehicle.”
Rhonda who said she was not “as nice as my husband is” took her claim to Lodi City Hall where she is demanding a larger amount – $4,800.
