An elderly man from Kiharu constituency in Murang’a county has left the locals bemused after digging his own grave and writing his eulogy in advance.
Samuel Karanja said that he decided to plan for his funerals in a bid to save the family the worries and troubles of catering for his funeral preparations once he passes on.
“I do not want to bother people at my funeral, most people bother people with their demise but that will not be me” he stated.
According to Mr. Karanja, he started by preparing his single-roomed graveside, which is surrounded by beautiful flowers. It is at that cavern that he will be interred when he happens to die.
Interestingly, the man has named his burial place and plastered the phrase “Kumenya” around it, which meanings knowing.
While speaking to Citizen Digital, the Murang’a man revealed that he has already left clear instructions around his burial, and that he will not expect a cross or flowers to be placed on his grave. Also, he does not expect the soil to cover his remains.
So daring is the man that he has gone to the extent of printing and framing a photo that will be put on his coffin. Besides, he has prepared his eulogy, arguing that no one in this earth understands him better than himself.
The family was shocked by the taboo at the beginning but later embraced the habit saying that he was a peach in a mango tree.
