The family of slain serial child killer Masten Milimu Wanjala has refused to bury him for fear of attracting curses.
The family is not ready to proceed with Masten’s burial plan and is taking more time to reflect on the issue.
The state conducted an autopsy on Milimu’s body on Thursday and directed the family to go ahead with burial arrangements.
The family however failed to attend the autopsy that was carried out on Thursday, October 21 at Bungoma Referral Hospital Mortuary.
The autopsy was carried out by two pathologists who were accompanied by a homicide detective. Details of the autopsy were however not shared with the public.
The family led by his father Robert Wanjala believe that there was a foul play in Milimu’s murder.
They do not understand how their kin sneaked out of prison yet the last time he was at his home village he was heavily guarded.
The family is also considering suing the state over Milimu’s death.
Milimu was Killed after escaping from lawful custody between the night of October 11 and October 13.
He was lynched by a mob at Mukhweya village a few days after escaping from custody.
“We are not sure how he managed to travel all the way from Nairobi to his rural home. It is the curious villagers who first identified him and went ahead to kill him even before the police could be informed,” said the Bungoma County police Police Commander Musyoki Mutungi.
Three officers linked to his prison escape have since been charged in the court of law where they pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The three officers namely; Philip Mbithi, Kamakia Mutuma Boniface and Precious Mwende Mwinzi were arraigned in court on Friday October 22 before Nairobi Principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi and charged with two counts of aiding a prisoner to escape from lawful custody and negligence of duties.
