A 20-year old man from Lamu has been forced to go into hiding after losing Kshs100, 000 belonging to his boss.
Robert Mimunoru tried his luck in betting hoping that he would be among the winners but things did not turn out as he expected.
Mimunoru decided to evade his boss’s wrath and said that he had gone to live with his mother in a note he left behind.
The frustrated young man asked the boss to forgive him and said that the money would be recovered by selling a piece of land that he owns.
“I am very sorry, boss. I did not expect to lose all the cash but do not worry we have two farms and one has miraa grown on it. I lost 100K on SportPesa. I also lost 30K to a different betting firm. I have suffered enough trying to make it in this life to no avail so I have gone to live with my mother,” part of the note read.
He added that in case he committed suicide, SportPesa would be responsible and that the government should take action against the betting firm.
“It’s not fair that I suffer every day, if you find my body it is SportPesa who will be responsible. If they refuse, the government should take action and close these betting firms,” Mimunoru said.
He further said that he had gone to the police station to be detained but the police refused to take him in.
“I have sold everything I had, I did not want to lose my life. I took myself to the police but they refused to detain me. Your money will not go down the drain as I have a piece of land,” the 20-year old added.
